A recent road rage incident involving a 40-year-old Singaporean man has resulted in a fine of RM9,100 at the Magistrate’s Court in Johor Bahru.

Cheng Kuan Poh Colin, a human resources manager, appeared in court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to two charges.

He was accused of damaging Ng Yeow Meng’s Malaysian-registered car and spitting on Ng’s face at a specific location and time. Cheng admitted to the charges read to him in Mandarin before Magistrate A. Shaarmini.

During the hearing, Cheng's lawyer requested a lower fine, citing his responsibilities to care for his sick parents and his first-time offense. The court ordered him to pay RM4,300 for the first charge and RM4,800 for the second charge, with a default of six months’ jail for each.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Fatihah Mohd Nizam led the prosecution in the case. The Singaporean was detained on June 8 following a video circulating on social media showing him shouting at and damaging a car during an altercation.
