Hafiz Naeem criticises the government for failing the common man, favouring the ruling class and elites

The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has strongly opposed the federal budget, labeling it a document that caters to the elite and worsens poverty, inflation, and inequality.

During a press conference at Mansoora, he criticized the government for neglecting the common man in favor of the ruling class and privileged groups.

He expressed disappointment that the budget burdens the salaried and middle-income individuals with heavy taxes without offering substantial relief or reforms.

Naeem dismissed the government's claims of reducing poverty as unrealistic, citing that over 110 million Pakistanis still live below the poverty line.

He accused the government of mishandling the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), alleging corruption and political manipulation, especially in Sindh.

He called for an investigation into the misuse of Rs700 billion allocated for poverty alleviation, suggesting that investing in IT education could have significantly boosted Pakistan's IT industry revenues.

Highlighting the poor state of education, Naeem pointed out that millions of children are out of school, and fraudulent practices like 'ghost schools' are draining public funds.

He criticized the lack of investment in education despite claims of an 'education emergency' by the government.

Naeem also revealed that the salaried class contributed Rs 499 billion in taxes this year but received no relief, emphasizing the need for tax exemptions for these workers.

He condemned the tax exemptions granted to various departments and entities while burdening the poor with high utility bills.

The Ameer criticized the salary hikes for government officials and the tax on solar energy systems, calling it a violation of environmental commitments.

He highlighted policy failures in the economy, particularly anti-farmer measures, and criticized ineffective agriculture credit schemes.

Naeem called for institutional reforms in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to improve tax collection and reduce debt dependency, accusing the FBR of corruption.

He demanded a reduction in civil and military privileges to redirect resources to meet the genuine needs of the people.

On foreign affairs, he accused India's RAW of sponsoring terrorism in Balochistan and urged serious diplomatic efforts on the Kashmir issue.
