Konami is reviving Metal Gear multiplayer with the upcoming release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, featuring a new online multiplayer mode called Fox Hunt that offers a unique gameplay experience distinct from Metal Gear Online.

Metal Gear Online, the beloved multiplayer spin-off bundled with 2008's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, had its servers shut down in 2012.

Set to launch in August, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will bring back Metal Gear multiplayer with Fox Hunt, a mode that Konami promises will have completely different gameplay mechanics compared to MGO.

In a recent video, Konami showcased snippets of Fox Hunt gameplay, demonstrating a soldier navigating the environment from a third-person perspective while using camo tech to blend in seamlessly. For more details, check out the latest updates from Konami Press Start Live June 2025.

Yu Sahara, the director of Fox Hunt mode in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, described the new online multiplayer mode as taking camouflage and hide-and-seek to the next level, emphasizing the tension between staying hidden or seeking out enemies to create a unique experience.

Expect more information about Fox Hunt to be revealed soon, according to Sahara.

Additionally, the video previewed more of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, along with its crossover modes like Snake vs Monkey for PC and PlayStation 5, and Snake vs Bomberman for Xbox.

Yuji Korekado, the creative producer, mentioned updates to the AI, animations, and balancing in the main game, particularly in boss battles. The Secret Theater feature also makes a return, with original videos now available as in-game collectibles, alongside new Secret Theater videos hidden with enemy soldiers.

Earlier reports in April highlighted suggestive and sexual content in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, including the Peep Demo Theater unlockable feature from previous versions of Metal Gear Solid 3.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is scheduled to launch on August 28, 2025, across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.
