Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was in Los Angeles as part of a broad federal response to public demonstrations against immigration raids.

During a press conference held by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in Los Angeles, Senator Alex Padilla was forcibly removed and handcuffed by police officers. This incident occurred as Padilla interrupted Noem's speech regarding deportation efforts in California amidst protests against recent immigration enforcement actions by the Trump administration.

Padilla clarified that he was not arrested or detained following the altercation. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) attributed the incident to Padilla but mentioned that he and Noem later had a 15-minute meeting to discuss the situation.

A video shared by Padilla's staff with NBC News' Jacob Soboroff captured the moment when two officers pulled the senator by his arms as he entered the room. Despite his attempts to address the secretary, Padilla was forcibly pushed out of the room by multiple officers.

After being moved to a hallway, Padilla was forced onto his knees, then onto his stomach, and ultimately handcuffed by three officers. A voice in the video can be heard stating that recording was not allowed in the hallway.
