During the nationwide Independence Day job fairs organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), more than 3,000 job seekers were hired on the spot. The events took place at various locations across the country on June 12, with a total of 25,876 individuals registering for the job fairs.
Out of the registered applicants, 3,364 were hired immediately, including 274 senior high school graduates, one person with a disability, and 10 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program. These individuals were hired for positions such as cashier, service crew, production operator, ESL teacher, and more.
Additionally, 4,676 job seekers were classified as near-hires pending final evaluations, while 21,419 were considered fully qualified for the available positions. A total of 1,573 employers participated in the job fairs, offering 153,187 job vacancies in various industries including manufacturing, retail, BPO, accommodation, and financial services.
Key job vacancies included production operators, sales clerks, call center representatives, service crews, and microfinance officers. According to recent data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, the number of unemployed Filipinos aged 15 and above is approximately 1.94 million, accounting for 3.8% of the population. Underemployment, which includes individuals seeking additional work or longer hours, stands at 10.1%.
These figures show improvements compared to previous data from January 2025, indicating positive trends in employment and job opportunities in the Philippines.
