A former staff member of the National Dental Centre of Singapore (NDCS) has been accused of taking photos of the breasts of 25 patients and has been charged in a district court.

Elgin Ng, 28, received 30 charges on June 13, including 25 charges of voyeurism. He allegedly took 'top-down and bottom-up' photos of the victims' breasts over a period of more than two years, from March 2022 to April 2024.

The details of how these offenses were committed were not disclosed in court documents, and the identities of the women involved are protected by a gag order.

Ng is also accused of downloading photos of 42 patients from a computer system at NDCS in 2022 and 2023. Additionally, he allegedly accessed personal details of 18 patients from electronic dental records.

Furthermore, Ng is charged with sending voyeuristic images to another man on at least two occasions between May and June 2024.

In response to inquiries from The Straits Times, NDCS confirmed that Ng is no longer employed by the organization. The NDCS spokesperson emphasized the importance of protecting the safety, privacy, and data of their patients and stated that they take a strong stance against data breaches and misconduct.

Ng has not yet entered a plea for his offenses, and his case has been adjourned to July 8.

Nadine Chua, a crime and court journalist at The Straits Times, reported on this case.
