Liverpool has reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the transfer of Florian Wirtz, potentially setting a new British record of £116 million.
After several weeks of negotiations with the Bundesliga club, a deal has been finalized, showcasing the Premier League champions' strong intentions.
The transfer fee is divided into a guaranteed £100 million payment and additional bonuses that could total up to £16 million.
The full bonuses will only be activated if Liverpool achieves sustained success at an elite level, surpassing the current record of £115 million set by Chelsea for Moisés Caicedo in August 2023.
Before the final agreement, Leverkusen had received previous offers of £109 million and £113 million. The German club had initially requested £126 million or €150 million for Wirtz.
