Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir has returned to India from England due to a family emergency. India and England are set to lock horns in a five-match Test series beginning from June 20.

Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir has had to cut short his time in England ahead of the upcoming Test series against England due to a family emergency. The series is scheduled to begin on June 20, and Gambhir's absence will be felt as the team gears up for the matches.

Gambhir had to rush back to India after receiving news of his mother, Seema Gambhir, suffering a heart attack on June 11. He is expected to rejoin the team on June 17, just days before the first Test at Headingley, Leeds.

This tour marks a new chapter for Indian cricket following the retirement of key players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin from Test cricket. With Shubman Gill taking on the role of captain and Gambhir as head coach, the team is looking to make a fresh start.

Despite facing scrutiny over his coaching abilities, Gambhir has been actively involved in preparing the team for the series. The BCCI has shared practice videos showing his dedication to turning things around for the Indian side.

As part of their preparation, India will engage in an intra-squad warm-up game against India A starting from June 13. Gambhir has chosen to keep the sessions private to maintain a strategic advantage over the opposition.

The warm-up game will provide players with valuable match practice, with bowlers expected to bowl a total of 360 overs to build their form before the series kicks off.
