Authorities in Negros Island apprehended a total of 69 individuals for violating the election gun ban between January 12 and June 11. The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office accounted for 41 of the apprehensions, followed by Bacolod City Police Office with 15, and Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office with 13.

Police Captain Judesses Catalogo, the spokesperson for the Negros Occidental police, reported a total of 44 gun ban incidents and the confiscation of 47 firearms over the six-month period. The suspects in Negros Occidental were apprehended through search warrant and buy-bust operations, as well as the implementation of laws and police responses.

Catalogo emphasized that these apprehensions were a result of intensified police operations against loose firearms. He noted that no apprehensions were made during 24-hour checkpoint operations throughout the gun ban period.

According to Catalogo, the increased campaign was prompted by previous shooting incidents involving loose firearms, aiming to address situations involving civilians with unauthorized firearms. He highlighted that this effort is part of their enhanced crime prevention measures in the province.

Police Lieutenant Stephen Polinar, spokesperson for Negros Oriental police, reported the confiscation of 12 firearms from civilians in 13 police operations, including checkpoints. Most of these firearms were seized during anti-illegal drug operations. Polinar mentioned that Negros Oriental had the lowest number of violators among the three police offices, attributing this to their rigorous efforts to curb gun ban violations in the province.
