Pakistan was bottom-ranked among 148 countries in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2025.

Pakistan has been ranked as the worst place in the world for women, according to the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2025. The country was placed at the bottom of the list of 148 countries, with only 56.7% gender parity.

The report evaluates gender parity across four key dimensions: economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, health and survival, and political empowerment.

In the latest report, Pakistan was ranked below countries like Sudan, Chad, Iran, Guinea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Niger, Algeria, and Mali.

This ranking comes as no surprise in a country where women face numerous challenges, including violence, discrimination, and economic disparities.

Experts and activists have expressed deep concern over Pakistan's ranking in the report. Associate Professor Nida Kirmani stated that Pakistan is officially the worst place for women in the world. Others highlighted the need for urgent action to address the structural barriers and oppression faced by women in the country.

Many online users criticized the backlash faced by feminist movements like the Aurat March, emphasizing the importance of supporting women's rights and empowerment in Pakistan.

It is crucial for both policymakers and society to work towards gender equality and address the systemic inequalities that continue to hinder women's progress in the country.
