Pakistan’s former Test captain Mohammad Yousuf has resigned as batting coach from the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.

Pakistan's former Test captain, Mohammad Yousuf, has decided to step down from his role as the batting coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not officially confirmed this news, but Yousuf himself mentioned that his resignation was accepted by the PCB after he submitted it last week. When asked about his decision, Yousuf stated that it was a personal choice with no further details to provide.

Yousuf had been serving as the NCA batting coach for several years and was also involved in a similar capacity with the Pakistan senior team, in addition to coaching the U19 team. He was part of the coaching staff during Pakistan's tour to New Zealand in April, but was notably absent during the recent T20 series against Bangladesh.

A source familiar with the situation revealed that Yousuf became dissatisfied after the PCB appointed former fast bowler Aaqib Javed as the Director of the NCA. Yousuf believed that he should have been promoted to that position considering his seniority. Prior to Aaqib, another former Test spinner, Nadeem Khan, held the role of Director at the NCA.

Over the past year, Aaqib has been entrusted with various important roles by the PCB, including serving as a senior selector and acting as the interim head coach of the senior team. Following his stint as head coach during the New Zealand tour, he was appointed as the NCA Director while still retaining his selector position.

The source further added that some prominent figures associated with the board have expressed discontent recently, feeling that they are not being valued enough while certain players receive preferential treatment despite poor performances.
