INEOS agreed a five-year deal with Spurs in 2022 – before Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought a stake in Man Utd – for INEOS Grenadier to become the London team’s official 4×4 vehicle partner; in March 2025, INEOS exited the sponsorship deal, three years into a five-year deal.

Tottenham Hotspur has taken legal action against INEOS Automotive, owned by Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, in the London Commercial Court. The lawsuit was filed on Thursday, with the specifics of the claim revolving around a contractual disagreement.

INEOS had signed a five-year deal with Spurs back in 2022, prior to Ratcliffe's acquisition of a stake in Manchester United. The agreement was for INEOS Grenadier to serve as the official 4x4 vehicle partner of the London club. However, INEOS terminated the sponsorship deal in March 2025, ending the partnership three years into the originally agreed five-year term.

An INEOS Automotive spokesperson stated to Sky Sports News that the company had been a partner of Tottenham Hotspur since 2022, inheriting a partnership agreement that was initially established between INEOS Group and the club in 2020. The spokesperson clarified that INEOS Automotive exercised its contractual right to terminate the partnership contract in December 2024.

When approached for comment, Tottenham Hotspur did not immediately respond. Earlier in March, INEOS had settled a dispute with New Zealand Rugby regarding a sponsorship deal. This resolution came after NZR had initiated legal action against INEOS, claiming that the first installment of sponsorship funds for 2025, as per a six-year agreement from 2021, had not been paid.
