Exploring the ocean can lead to some incredible discoveries, and one fisherman had a jaw-dropping encounter with a giant 'diamond black' iceberg off the coast of Canada.

Hallur Antoniussen, a lone fisherman, stumbled upon the massive iceberg while out on a recent trip. Despite its striking appearance, he wisely kept his distance from the iceberg, opting to steer clear of any potential danger.

Antoniussen, originally from the Faroe Islands, was aboard a fishing trawler when he first laid eyes on the unusual sight. The iceberg, which he estimated to be about three times the size of a bungalow, stood out due to its unique diamond shape and dark color.

While some may have mistaken it for an alien spacecraft, the dark hue of the iceberg can be attributed to debris that gets trapped in the ice as glaciers move towards the ocean. Only the tip of the iceberg was visible above the water, with the majority of its mass hidden beneath the surface.

Dr. Lev Tarasov, a glaciologist from Memorial University in Canada, explained that the debris within the iceberg likely took a long time to accumulate, resulting in its distinctive appearance. As the iceberg continues to melt and travel along the coast, more of its structure may be revealed, showing the true extent of its unique formation.

It's fascinating to consider that the part of the iceberg captured by Antoniussen may have been untouched for hundreds of thousands of years, making it a rare and ancient sight in the vast ocean.
