Anker has issued a recall for its PowerCore 10000 power bank (model A1263) due to potential fire and burn risks associated with the lithium battery. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) reported 19 incidents of fires and explosions, resulting in minor injuries and property damage.
This recall affects 1,158,000 units sold in the US through Amazon, Newegg, and eBay from June 2016 to December 2022. To identify if you have the specific model, check the rear of the device for 'Anker PowerCore 10000 A1263'.
To claim a $30 gift card or replacement power bank, submit a photo with the submission date and 'recall' or 'recalled' written on it. Include photos of the model and serial numbers, and optionally, a receipt. Visit Anker's recall page for further instructions.
Once confirmed, dispose of the affected power bank at a designated hazardous waste collection center. Do not discard it in regular trash or recycling bins. Lithium-ion batteries can degrade over time, increasing the risk of fire. Transporting them has strict regulations, as seen with recent airline policies.
