Baguio City recently celebrated the 24th Filipino-Chinese Friendship Day at the Filipino-Chinese Friendship Park in the Botanical Garden. During the event, 100 solo parents were given grocery packs as gifts.

The celebration was graced by Consul and Head of Post Ren Faquiang from the consulate of China in Laoag City, along with Baguio Filipino-Chinese organizations represented by businessman Peter Ng, and various city officials.

Despite any issues between the two countries, Peter Ng emphasized the enduring friendship between Chinese and Filipinos, rooted in shared love for the Philippines and a commitment to helping fellow countrymen.

Consul Faquiang highlighted the strong relationship between Chinese and Filipinos in Baguio City, noting the mutual respect and unity that have characterized their interactions. The upcoming 50th anniversary of Philippines-China friendship further underscores the long-standing cooperation and economic ties between the two nations.

As a symbol of friendship, doves and balloons were released during the event. Mayor Benjamin Magalong, in a message delivered by his Executive Assistant Doy Tabilog, commended the Filipino-Chinese community for their significant contributions to various community programs, including disaster relief efforts and the development of tourism attractions like the Chinoy mural and the Fil-Chinese Friendship Park.

The beneficiaries of the grocery packs were selected by the City Social Welfare and Development Office under the leadership of Liza Bulayungan.
