The Supreme Court (SC) has made a final decision to support the expansion of MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) into various areas of Iloilo province.

The SC issued a resolution on May 20, 2025, rejecting the motions for reconsideration filed by Iloilo Electric Cooperatives ILECO I, ILECO II, ILECO III, and the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association Inc. (PHILRECA).

The Supreme Court en banc stated that no significant arguments were presented to justify overturning the decision.

ILECO I, ILECO II, and ILECO III, along with PHILRECA, challenged the validity of Republic Act No. 11918, which expanded MORE Power's franchise from Iloilo City to 15 towns and a component city in Iloilo province that are currently under ILECOs.

They contended that the franchise expansion was unconstitutional and led to a monopoly of power in the province.

The push for MORE Power's expansion began in 2021 in response to demands for more affordable and reliable power services in Iloilo province.

President and CEO of MORE Power, Roel Z. Castro, expressed gratitude for the Supreme Court's decision, stating that it upholds the rule of law and the desires of the people.
