After Aiden Markram's outstanding century in the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2025 against Australia, a seven-year-old tweet from Virat Kohli praising the South African batter has resurfaced on social media. Markram made history by becoming the first South African player to score a hundred in the final of an ICC event, remaining unbeaten on 102 at the end of Day 3.

In March 2018, Kohli had commended Markram for his innings of 84 against Australia in Cape Town, calling him 'a delight to watch'. The partnership between Markram and captain Temba Bavuma has put South Africa in a strong position, needing just 69 runs to secure victory in the final.

With a target of 282, South Africa are comfortably placed at 213/2 in the fourth innings. Markram and Bavuma's 143-run partnership has significantly reduced the target, bringing the Proteas close to ending their 27-year ICC title drought. Their last major trophy win dates back to 1998.

As they head into Day 4, Markram and Bavuma will aim to continue their partnership and lead South Africa to a historic victory in the WTC final.
