“Safety is in everything that we do, so the tragedy in India, we don’t see that in any way, shape or form as a competitive input,” Christian Scherer, who oversees Airbus’s commercial aircraft operation, said at a press meeting in Paris.

Ahead of the Paris Air Show, Airbus SE addressed the recent fatal accident in India involving a Boeing Co. airliner, stressing the need for the aviation industry to prioritize safety over competition. Christian Scherer, overseeing Airbus's commercial aircraft operation, stated that safety is paramount and tragedies like the India crash should not be seen as a competitive advantage.

The crash of an Air India 787 Dreamliner claimed over 240 lives and has raised concerns about flying safety. Airbus and Boeing, the two major players in the industry, are both focused on enhancing safety measures rather than capitalizing on each other's misfortunes.

While the cause of the crash remains unknown, both companies are committed to maintaining high safety standards. Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury and other executives highlighted the importance of safety culture and the need to prioritize it over production volume amidst global challenges and supply chain disruptions.
