The family of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuwanshi recently performed his ‘pind daan’ in Ujjain, following his untimely demise during a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya with his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi. This event garnered national attention and was attended by various family members and loved ones.
The 'pind daan', a ritualistic offering to pray for the souls of the departed, was conducted by Raja Raghuwanshi's brothers Sachin and Vipin at the banks of the Kshipra river. Among the attendees was Sonam Raghuwanshi's brother, Govind, who expressed his sentiments regarding the tragic incident.
Govind mentioned that he was unaware of the relationship between his sister and Raj before their marriage. He stated that had he known, he would have either facilitated their marriage or allowed Sonam to elope with Raj Kushwaha, showcasing his regret and shock over the turn of events.
Following their marriage on May 11, Raja and Sonam embarked on a trip to Shillong, where Raja met his unfortunate fate. The Meghalaya Police have since arrested Sonam, Raj, and others on suspicion of being involved in a premeditated plan to harm Raja.
Govind, while expressing his support for Raja's family during the 'pind daan', emphasized that he still considers them as his own. He also mentioned that if Sonam is found guilty, she should face severe consequences for her actions.
Describing his sister as 'stubborn and short-tempered', Govind highlighted the gravity of the situation and the impact it has had on their family and the state of Madhya Pradesh. He expressed disappointment over Sonam's actions and the repercussions they have brought.
Raja's brother Vipin confirmed Govind's presence at the ceremony, stating that despite the circumstances, they welcomed him. The investigation into Raja's tragic death is ongoing, with authorities looking into Sonam's past relationship with Raj as a significant factor in the case.
Meghalaya Murder Investigation
The investigation into Raja Raghuwanshi's disappearance and subsequent murder revealed Sonam as one of the main suspects, leading to the arrest of four others. Sonam and her alleged accomplices were traced to Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, shedding light on the murder conspiracy.
According to East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem, the murder plot was devised in Indore before Raja and Sonam's wedding, with Raj Kushwaha being identified as the mastermind. Sonam's involvement in the plan was also brought to light, leading to a series of arrests and the discovery of Raja's body near Weisawdong Falls.
Despite Sonam's disappearance following the incident, she eventually surrendered to the police, marking a significant development in the case and the pursuit of justice for Raja Raghuwanshi.
