During the upcoming June school holidays on June 14, travelers heading to Johor can anticipate a queueing time of three hours or more at the Woodlands Checkpoint due to heavy departure traffic, according to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
ICA's Facebook post at 11:24 am highlighted that the tailback from Malaysia has stretched beyond Exit 10A of the BKE in Woodlands.
Earlier in May, ICA had cautioned about the anticipated traffic congestion and longer waiting times at the two land checkpoints during the June school holidays.
Drivers were reminded not to cut the queue at the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints to avoid penalties such as making a U-turn and rejoining the line or facing blacklisting and further disciplinary actions.
On May 9, before the Vesak Day long weekend, motorists experienced up to three hours of waiting time at immigration due to tailbacks from Malaysia. Over 3 million people crossed the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints from May 8 to 13, with the peak crowd on May 9 exceeding 546,600 travelers.
