Iran Condemns US Dialogue on Nuclear Program as 'Meaningless' Following Israeli Attack

Esmaeil Baghaei said Israel "succeeded in influencing" the diplomatic process and the Israeli attack would not have happened without Washington's permission.

Iran has declared that discussions with the US regarding Tehran's nuclear program are now considered 'meaningless' in the wake of Israel's recent massive military strike against the country, with accusations that Washington supported the attack.

According to foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, as quoted by the semi-official Tasnim news agency, the US has taken actions that render dialogue ineffective. Baghaei emphasized that allowing Israel to target Iran's territory while claiming to negotiate undermines the credibility of the talks.

Baghaei further stated that Israel's recent attack on Iran would not have occurred without the permission and support of the United States, accusing Washington of influencing the diplomatic process.

Iran had previously accused the US of complicity in Israel's attacks, a claim that was denied by Washington. The US advised Tehran at the United Nations Security Council to engage in negotiations regarding its nuclear program, suggesting that it would be in Iran's best interest to do so.

The sixth round of US-Iran nuclear talks was scheduled to take place in Muscat on Sunday, but its continuation was uncertain following the Israeli strikes. Iran maintains that its uranium enrichment activities are solely for civilian purposes and refutes Israeli claims of developing nuclear weapons in secret.
