Overnight on Saturday, Iran and Israel engaged in airstrikes following Israel's significant offensive against Iran to prevent the development of a nuclear weapon.

Air raid sirens were heard in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, prompting residents to seek shelter as the military activated its air defence systems to intercept Iranian missiles.

The Israeli military reported dozens of missiles launched from Iran, some of which were intercepted. Rescue teams were dispatched to various locations where projectiles had fallen, but casualties were not confirmed.

Explosions were reported in Tehran, with two projectiles hitting Mehrabad airport. The airport, located near key Iranian leadership sites, hosts an air force base with fighter jets and transport aircraft.

Israeli media reported a suspected missile landing in Tel Aviv, while a loud boom was heard in Jerusalem. The source of the activity, whether Iranian strikes or Israeli defence, remained unclear.

Iran launched a third wave of airstrikes on Saturday in response to Israel's attacks on Friday targeting commanders, nuclear scientists, military facilities, and nuclear sites.

During the missile attacks, a high-rise building in central Tel Aviv was hit, causing damage to the lower third of the structure. An apartment block in Ramat Gan was also destroyed.

Israel's ambulance service treated 34 people with minor injuries in the Tel Aviv area on Friday night, with one reported fatality. The United States military assisted in intercepting Iranian missiles aimed at Israel.

Israel's military stated that Iran fired fewer than 100 missiles on Friday, most of which were intercepted or fell short. Despite the Israeli strikes and Iranian retaliation, concerns of a wider regional conflict loomed, although Iran's allies Hamas and Hezbollah have been significantly weakened by Israel.
