Lando Norris Leads Final Practice at Canadian GP with Piastri Crash

Lando Norris topped the time charts in the third practice session for the 2025 Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix, while Oscar Piastri caused a red flag incident in FP3.

During the session, all drivers set their fastest lap times on soft tires, although some may consider using mediums for qualifying, with a preference for the C5 compound over the C6.

Norris set the pace with a time of 1m11.799s, followed closely by Charles Leclerc in second and Lewis Hamilton in fourth.

George Russell claimed third place for Mercedes, with Max Verstappen rounding out the top five for Red Bull.

Fernando Alonso finished sixth for Aston Martin, ahead of Mercedes's Kimi Antonelli.

Piastri's Incident

Twenty minutes into the session, Piastri hit the wall of champions, causing a right-rear puncture that sent him back to the McLaren garage after completing just two timed laps on softs and three on mediums.

The incident led to a brief red flag due to debris at the final chicane, but Piastri's car was repaired in time for him to complete a few more timed laps before the end of the session, finishing in eighth place.

Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon rounded out the top 10, with Yuki Tsunoda facing a challenging session as he managed only one timed lap before encountering a reliability issue that required attention from the Red Bull team.

Despite some setbacks, Tsunoda was able to improve his time later in the session, while his teammate Gabriel Bortoleto faced a red flag infringement.
