Two teenagers and two men have been charged with aggravated burglary and unlawful possession of a machine pistol.

A 60-year-old father was brutally attacked in front of his family during a home invasion in Shankill, Dublin, where armed intruders forced their way into their home. Gardaí have accused two 17-year-old boys, Sean Doran, 26, and Gregory Dunne, 60, of aggravated burglary and unlawful possession of a machine pistol.

Both teenagers and men face charges carrying maximum life sentences. The Garda ballistics section confirmed that the gun was capable of full automatic firing. Mr. Doran also faces an additional charge of assault causing harm to the homeowner.

The family, in grave fear, has moved to a hotel and did not testify during the bail hearing. The arrests were made by Gardaí from the Dublin Metropolitan East Crime Functioning Area, with Judge Michele Finan refusing bail for the accused.

The suspects allegedly acted in joint enterprise, with concerns raised about threats and violence used during the incident. Garda witnesses stated that the intruders arrived at the scene on an e-bike and in a car before the brutal attack took place.

Despite proposals for bail with conditions, Judge Finan denied all applications. The teenagers will appear at the Children's Court, while the adult co-defendants will face their next hearings at Cloverhill District Court.
