Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump have held a 50-minute phone call to discuss the escalating situation in the Middle East and Ukraine peace talks.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump engaged in a 50-minute phone call to address the escalating tensions in the Middle East and ongoing peace negotiations in Ukraine, according to Putin's foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov.

During the call, Putin updated Trump on recent discussions with leaders from Iran and Israel, reiterating Russia's proposal to find mutually acceptable solutions regarding the Iranian nuclear issue.

Ushakov informed reporters that the conversation between Putin and Trump primarily focused on the dangerous escalation of the situation in the Middle East.

Putin expressed serious concerns about the potential consequences of the conflict and condemned the military operations against Iran, highlighting Russia's willingness to mediate and propose agreements during U.S.-Iran negotiations.

Trump, on the other hand, acknowledged the severity of the regional crisis and praised Israel's effectiveness in targeting Iranian sites, while not ruling out the possibility of returning to talks about the Iranian nuclear program.

Additionally, Putin briefed Trump on the progress made during peace discussions in Istanbul between Russian and Ukrainian representatives, specifically mentioning the exchange of prisoners of war.

Ushakov stated that the exchange included wounded individuals and prisoners under the age of 25, emphasizing Putin's commitment to further negotiations with Ukraine.

Trump expressed his desire for a swift resolution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, while Putin took the opportunity to wish Trump a happy 79th birthday.
