Horrified tourists have pledged to cancel their holidays in Ibiza after huge snakes were seen swimming in the water following sweltering 30C temperatures

Tourists visiting Ibiza are now too scared to swim due to the presence of large snakes up to 6ft long in the waters of the popular holiday destination. The recent hot weather with temperatures exceeding 30C in Spain has led to an increase in sightings of these snakes in the coastal resorts on the island.

Two people sailing in an inflatable boat near Portinatx in Ibiza were shocked to encounter nearly 6ft long snakes in the sea. One tourist expressed their fear on social media, highlighting the unexpected presence of these snakes in what was once considered a peaceful paradise.

The couple who captured a 5.7ft snake on video shared their surprise at the find. Videos of these invasive species swimming in the sea have been circulating online, with tourists expressing disbelief at the sight of snakes in the water.

Although non-venomous, snakes are known to take to the sea, especially in places like Ibiza. Experts explain that snakes often seek refuge in boats on land during winter and instinctively swim away when the boats are returned to the sea, causing alarm among residents and tourists.

Residents are calling for urgent action to address the growing snake population on the island, as sightings and encounters with snakes have become more common. Some holidaymakers have even decided to cancel their trips to Ibiza due to their fear of encountering snakes.

One hiker found a note on a tree branch with a jug of water left for the snakes, highlighting the ongoing concern and humor surrounding the snake invasion in Ibiza.
