Health officials in Northern Health (NH) have confirmed multiple cases of measles in the community of Wonowon, located near Fort St. John. The initial case was linked to travel, but the disease is now believed to be spreading locally. Residents of Wonowon and neighboring areas, including Fort St. John, may have been exposed to the virus since late May. This includes a potential exposure at the emergency waiting area of Fort St. John Hospital on June 2.

Measles is highly contagious and spreads through the air. Anyone who may have been exposed and develops symptoms is advised to seek medical help. It is recommended to call ahead before visiting a healthcare provider to ensure proper precautions are taken.
