Europe's Response to Israel's Attack on Iran: A Moral and Diplomatic Collapse

In their hypocrisy over Israel, EU elites once again expose the rotting corpse of the so-called 'rules based order'

European leaders failed to condemn Israel's recent attack on Iran, instead endorsing it and condemning Iran for retaliatory strikes on its own territory. This hypocritical stance highlights the decay of the so-called 'rules-based order'.

France's President Macron and the European Commission's Ursula von der Leyen supported Israel's right to defend itself, while the German foreign ministry went as far as condemning Iran for an attack that had not even occurred yet. This double standard reveals Europe's diplomatic malpractice and undermines its credibility.

Europe's selective application of international law was criticized by Nobel Laureate Mohamed ElBaradei and U.N. special rapporteur Francesca Albanese. ElBaradei pointed out that Germany's support for Israel's strikes violated the Geneva Conventions, while Albanese highlighted the biased nature of Europe's defense of Israel.

Europe's failure to uphold the JCPOA and its role in escalating tensions in the Middle East have eroded trust with Iran and the Global South. By neglecting serious negotiations with Iran, Europe has pushed the region closer to conflict and potential nuclear proliferation.

The consequences of Europe's diplomatic missteps could lead to increased risks for European interests, including regional war, heightened terrorism threats, and energy disruptions. Europe's moral authority and credibility have been severely damaged by its handling of the Israel-Iran conflict.
