Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating incident at an airfield in Devon. The emergency services were summoned to Dunkeswell Aerodrome on Friday 13 June at approximately 1pm.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed that two people had passed away at the scene. The families of the deceased have been notified of this heartbreaking news.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police informed Sky News that scene guards are currently in place at the airfield, and investigations are being carried out by relevant authorities. They are urging anyone with information that could assist in the inquiries to come forward.
The Civil Aviation Authority acknowledged the incident but refrained from providing further details. The Air Accident Investigation Branch stated that British Skydiving would be handling the matter, although no response has been received from them.
In a message sent to its members, British Skydiving's chief executive Robert Gibson expressed their awareness of a tragic accident resulting in the loss of two skydivers' lives. The organization extended their deepest sympathies to the families, friends, and the entire skydiving community.
A board of inquiry from British Skydiving will be conducting an investigation into the incident.
