This would be in addition to the Rs 1 crore compensation support to the families of each person announced earlier by Tata Sons.

Air India, which is owned by the Tata Group, has declared that it will offer an interim compensation of Rs 25 lakh to each family of the deceased and the lone survivor of the crash. This financial aid aims to assist with immediate financial needs and is separate from the Rs 1 crore compensation previously announced by Tata Sons.

The CEO of Air India, Cambell Wilson, stated that the management team is present in Ahmedabad and will continue to provide support as needed. The airline will be providing Rs 25 lakh to each family of the deceased and the survivor to address their immediate financial requirements.

Wilson emphasized that Air India is working closely with authorities to aid in the reunification process with the victims' families. He also requested that the families be given privacy and space during this challenging period.

Furthermore, the airline is conducting precautionary safety checks on its Boeing 787 aircraft as per the directives of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The data recorder from the aircraft has been recovered and will be utilized in the official investigation into the crash.

In a statement shared on X, Air India expressed solidarity with the families of the passengers who tragically lost their lives. The airline's ground teams are providing care and support to the affected families during this difficult time.

The death toll from the crash of Air India Flight AI171, a London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, has reached 270. The aircraft crashed into the BJ Medical College hostel and canteen complex in Ahmedabad shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Out of the 242 passengers and crew on board, only one person survived. Additionally, 29 individuals on the ground, including five MBBS students, lost their lives.

Forensic teams and aviation experts are still investigating the wreckage for clues. In response, the Centre has formed a high-level, multi-disciplinary committee led by the Union Home Secretary to determine the cause of the tragedy.
