Experts say it could bring flooding and travel troubles later

Met Éireann has issued an urgent weather alert for thunderstorms set to hit the eastern coast of Ireland this afternoon and evening. Ten counties, including Cork, are on a Status Yellow warning, with expectations of localised flooding, poor visibility, and difficult travel conditions.

The southern coast of Cork is expected to experience thundery conditions from 3 pm, with a storm over Cork Harbour around 5 pm. The worst weather is predicted for parts of Waterford and Kilkenny around 6 pm. The warning is in place until 6 pm, with most thunderstorms expected to dissipate by then.

Dublin, Louth, Meath, and Wicklow are also on a Status Yellow alert for heavy rain until this evening, with similar impacts from intense downpours. Northern counties Antrim, Armagh, and Down are on alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms, which may cause some disruption.
