The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has raised alarms about the challenges faced by Nasser Hospital in maintaining its operations. Reports initially suggested that a significant number of healthcare workers had left the hospital following evacuation orders from the IDF. However, it was later clarified that the hospital had lost around 10% of its staff.
Dr. Feroze Sidwa, a physician who has been working at Nasser Hospital, has called for urgent international support to sustain the hospital's operations. He emphasized the importance of protecting the hospital, resupplying it, and ensuring the safety of its staff.
Dr. Victoria Rose, who worked at Nasser Hospital in May, issued a dire warning about the consequences of the hospital's potential closure. She highlighted that Nasser Hospital is the only facility in the southern region of Gaza equipped with essential medical resources such as ITU beds, a CT scanner, oxygen generators, haemodialysis, and a blood bank. The closure of the hospital would result in a devastating loss of life and a significant challenge in providing necessary medical care.
