Israeli fire and airstrikes killed at least 35 people across Gaza, most of them near an aid distribution site operated by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, local health authorities said.

Israeli attacks have led to the deaths of at least 35 individuals in Gaza, with many of them near an aid distribution site operated by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, according to local health authorities.

Medics at Al-Awda and Al-Aqsa Hospitals in central Gaza reported that 15 people were killed while attempting to approach the GHF aid distribution site near the Netzarim corridor, with the remaining casualties occurring in separate attacks across the region.

The GHF initiated the distribution of food packages in Gaza at the end of May, implementing a new aid distribution model that the United Nations has deemed as neither impartial nor neutral.

The Gaza health ministry stated that at least 274 individuals have been killed, and over 2,000 wounded, near aid distribution sites since the GHF began its operations in Gaza.

Hamas, refuting Israeli allegations of aid theft, accused Israel of using hunger as a weapon of war and transforming aid distribution sites into deadly traps for innocent civilians.

Health officials at Shifa Hospital in Gaza confirmed that Israeli fire resulted in the deaths of at least 12 Palestinians who had gathered along the coastal road north of the territory to await aid trucks, bringing the day's death toll to 35.

The Israeli military instructed residents of Khan Younis and nearby towns in southern Gaza to evacuate their homes and move west towards the designated humanitarian zone area, citing intentions to combat "terror organizations" in the region.

The conflict in Gaza began 20 months ago following an attack by Hamas-led militants on Israel, during which 251 hostages were taken and 1,200 individuals, mostly civilians, were killed on October 7, 2023.

Israel's military operations have resulted in the deaths of nearly 55,000 Palestinians, the majority being civilians, as reported by Hamas-run health authorities in Gaza. The densely populated territory, housing over two million people, has been extensively damaged, displacing much of the population and leading to widespread malnutrition.

Despite efforts by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar, a lasting ceasefire in Gaza has yet to be achieved.
