George Russell secured his first pole position of the 2025 season at the Canadian Grand Prix, edging out Max Verstappen for the top spot.

Both the Mercedes and Red Bull drivers showed improvement in their final runs at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, using the medium Pirelli tire instead of the softest compound available.

Russell clocked a time of 1m 10.899s on his final lap, finishing 0.160s ahead of Verstappen, with both drivers outpacing Drivers' Championship leader Oscar Piastri.
