Homicide detectives have been called to the scene.

A discovery was made in Sydney's southwest as a woman's body was found in bushland. The police responded to a call about the incident at a reserve off Irwin Street in Werrington around 1.15pm on Sunday. Homicide detectives have been called to the scene, and a crime scene has been established. Officers, with the help of PolAir, are currently searching the area. The woman was found in a secluded part of the reserve near sporting fields and a residential area by a passerby who alerted the authorities.

According to Detective Superintendent Trent King, the reserve is isolated, and it seems the woman had been there for some time. Various items were found near her body, such as clothing and rubbish, although she was not wrapped in anything. While she appeared to be middle-aged, investigations are ongoing to confirm her identity and age. The missing persons unit is assisting in the investigation as specialist police examine the scene.

NSW Police have initiated Strike Force Dowerin to look into the matter. King mentioned that until the cause of death is determined, the death is considered unexplained. As a precaution, homicide detectives are involved to determine if the death is suspicious. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
