The PSNI said the 32-year-old man was arrested in the Larne area.

An individual has been taken into custody by authorities for their involvement in online posts connected to the recent public unrest in Northern Ireland.

The 32-year-old man was apprehended in the Larne region by the PSNI, who suspect him of encouraging or aiding criminal activities and possessing a class B controlled substance.

Law enforcement officers conducted a search of a residence in Larne, where they confiscated various items, including electronic devices and a small amount of a class B controlled drug.

Recent anti-immigrant riots have spread throughout Northern Ireland, with the initial outbreak occurring after a peaceful demonstration regarding the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl in Ballymena.

According to the PSNI, the teenage girl was reportedly subjected to a violent sexual assault on Saturday, 7 June, at Clonavon Terrace in Ballymena, near the Braid River, between 7.30pm and 10.30pm.

During this time, a parade featuring numerous Loyalist pipe bands was passing through the primarily Protestant town.

Following the incident, two 14-year-old boys were taken into custody and later appeared in court on Monday, 8 June, facing charges of attempted oral rape. They reportedly denied the allegations with the assistance of a Romanian interpreter.

Over 60 police officers sustained injuries during the unrest, which involved the hurling of petrol bombs, projectiles, and fireworks at the PSNI. To date, five individuals have been charged in connection to the disturbances.
