Coach Andrew McDonald has revealed the selection fallout from Australia’s failed World Test Championship final against South Africa. Labuschagne faces the axe for the three-Test series in the West Indies, which starts on June 26 in Barbados, while Sam Konstas and Josh Inglis are in line for recalls.

Marnus Labuschagne is facing increasing chances of being dropped for the upcoming series in the West Indies, while Sam Konstas and Josh Inglis are being considered for recalls. On the other hand, Usman Khawaja has been assured of his place until the conclusion of the Ashes.

These decisions were outlined by head coach Andrew McDonald in the aftermath of Australia's unexpected loss to South Africa in the World Test Championship final at Lord's. McDonald also discussed the impact of Steve Smith's finger injury on the team.

After Labuschagne's underwhelming performance, scoring 22 off 64 balls in the second innings, his spot in the team is under scrutiny. McDonald hinted at the possibility of finalizing the opening partnership for the upcoming England tour, with a chance of Travis Head opening in the West Indies if spin-friendly conditions prevail.

If Head does move up the order, Inglis is expected to slot back into the middle order, while Konstas is seen as a better fit for the opening role in a traditional Australian lineup.
