Sonam Raghuvanshi, who is accused of being involved in the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, was found hiding in a rented flat in Indore. The apartment was stocked with groceries worth ₹5,000. The family members of Raja Raghuvanshi removed Sonam's picture from their marriage poster after she was accused of plotting the murder in Meghalaya.
The flat in Indore was leased by Vishal Singh Chauhan, one of the alleged contract killers hired to kill Raja. Chauhan was reportedly the one who attacked Raja with a machete. Raj Kushwaha, Sonam's alleged lover and the main conspirator, had ordered groceries worth ₹5,000 online for her in the hideout apartment.
It is believed that the flat served as a temporary shelter for Sonam after she fled the murder scene in Meghalaya. The rented apartment in Dewas Naka, Indore, was secured on May 30, just a week after Raja was last seen alive.
Shilom James, who manages a property firm in Indore, mentioned that Chauhan rented the flat for ₹17,000 a month with a security deposit of ₹34,000. The keys to the apartment are still with the tenant, and the flat remains locked.
Raja's elder brother Sachin Raghuvanshi has demanded a narco analysis test be conducted on Sonam and Kushwaha to reveal the full truth behind his brother's murder. He suspects the involvement of more people in the conspiracy and wants a fast-track trial for the culprits.
Sonam and Raja got married on May 11 and went for their honeymoon in Meghalaya on May 20. Raja went missing on May 23, and Sonam surrendered in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, on June 9. The murder case has shocked the nation due to its meticulous planning and dramatic twists.
Five individuals, including Sonam, Raj Kushwaha, and three alleged hitmen, have been arrested in connection with the case. The Superintendent of Police (East Khasi Hills) Vivek Syiem revealed that the murder plot was hatched in Indore by Raj Kushwaha, who paid the hitmen ₹50,000 to carry out the murder.
However, the police clarified that it was not a typical contract killing as the individuals involved were friends, with one of them being a cousin of Raj. The murder was carried out as a favor to their friend Raj, according to SP Syiem.
