A woman in Birmingham, Angela Davies, was recently sentenced to two and a half years in prison for getting pregnant after having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old boy. Davies, who was in her early 20s at the time and addicted to drugs, initially lied about the boy's age but eventually confessed the truth more than two decades later.
Despite giving birth to the child fathered by the boy, Davies misled social services about the father's age, leading to the child being taken into care. The victim reported Davies to the police in the early 2020s, which ultimately led to her guilty plea in April this year.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Davies had a troubled past, including drug addiction and mental health issues. Her defense argued that she had not groomed or coerced the victim and was remorseful for her actions. However, the judge determined that an immediate custodial sentence was necessary due to the impact of the offense on the victim.
