Dispatchers detailed the severity of the victims’ injuries at both locations. At Senator Hoffman’s residence, they reported that he had been shot in the elbow and abdomen, with significant bleeding in his stomach. A female victim at the scene had sustained three gunshot wounds.
At Representative Hortman’s address, one victim was in cardiac arrest, and another had passed away before emergency personnel arrived. The suspected shooter had barricaded himself inside the home.
Suspect Identification
The suspect, Vance Boelter, 57, remains at large. The FBI has offered a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to his arrest. Boelter exchanged gunfire with authorities at Representative Hortman’s residence before fleeing the scene. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Boelter, a former political appointee, had previously served alongside Hoffman on a state board. It is unclear if they had a personal connection.
Police Response
