Jules Thomas was in a relationship with Mr Bailey for more than 30 years before splitting with him in 2021

Jules Thomas, the ex-partner of Ian Bailey, recently disclosed that she is battling an 'incurable illness' and expressed her desire to scatter his ashes with his sisters as a way to bid farewell. Ms. Thomas, who was in a relationship with Mr. Bailey for over 30 years before their split in 2021, shared that she has been dealing with the illness since 2021, following the release of Netflix's documentary on the murder case involving French filmmaker Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

The Welsh-born artist attributed the stress from the unsolved murder case to her declining health, mentioning that her immune system weakened significantly around the time the documentary was released. Despite her health challenges, Ms. Thomas remains active, engaging in daily floor exercises and gardening to maintain her physical well-being.

In 1996, the body of Ms. Toscan du Plantier was discovered near her home in West Cork, leading to accusations against Mr. Bailey, although he was never charged with the crime. Ms. Thomas firmly denies any involvement in or knowledge of the murder and supports claims made by director Jim Sheridan in his recent film, 'Re-Creation,' that there was no substantial evidence against Mr. Bailey.

Mr. Bailey, who consistently denied any role in the murder, was convicted in absentia in France in 2015. Despite the legal proceedings, Ms. Thomas emphasized the lack of evidence linking them to the crime and criticized the undue stress they endured as a result of the case.

Ms. Thomas also expressed her discontent with the Netflix documentary, calling it biased and disturbing. In addition to her health struggles, she faced social ostracism in her community due to the documentary's portrayal of her.

Reflecting on her relationship with Mr. Bailey, Ms. Thomas recounted the challenges they faced, including his substance abuse and the impact of the murder case on their lives. Despite the hardships, she shared her willingness to bid farewell to him alongside his sisters, expressing a desire for closure.
