Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significance of the upcoming G7 Summit in Canada as an opportunity to address pressing global issues and engage with partner countries from the Global South. He expressed his eagerness to participate in discussions at the summit in Kananaskis, where he was invited by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

During his departure statement, PM Modi highlighted the importance of the three-nation tour as a chance to express gratitude to partner countries for their unwavering support in India's fight against cross-border terrorism. He emphasized the need for global cooperation in combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

PM Modi's itinerary includes a visit to Cyprus on June 15-16 at the invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides. He described Cyprus as a close friend and key partner in the Mediterranean region and the EU. The visit aims to strengthen historical ties and enhance cooperation in trade, investment, security, technology, and people-to-people exchanges.

Following the G7 Summit, PM Modi will travel to Croatia to meet with President Zoran Milanovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. He highlighted the deep cultural connections between India and Croatia and emphasized that this visit, the first by an Indian prime minister, will pave the way for enhanced bilateral cooperation in various fields of mutual interest.
