A man was wounded by a stray bullet in a forested area near the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, where an SAF live-firing exercise was taking place. The 42-year-old victim sought medical help after being shot in the back on June 15. Fortunately, the injury is not life-threatening, and he is now in stable condition following surgery to remove the bullet.

The man was cycling with friends in a restricted zone of the nature reserve designated for SAF activities when the incident occurred. Despite warning signs and regulations against unauthorized entry, the group was within the area where live-firing exercises were being conducted. The victim was transported to the National University Hospital by his companions.

The SAF has halted live-firing activities at the Nee Soon Range, located approximately 2.3km from the scene of the shooting. Authorities emphasize the importance of adhering to safety regulations and avoiding restricted zones designated for military exercises to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

The Central Catchment Nature Reserve, spanning over 2,000 hectares of forested land with numerous trails, is a prominent natural area in Singapore managed by the National Parks Board. Both the police and SAF are conducting investigations into the incident, with no suspicion of foul play reported.
