Health experts, researchers, and advocates gathered at the 8th Asia Dengue Summit to address the rising cases of dengue globally and emphasize the importance of prevention, innovation, and collaboration.

The 8th Asia Dengue Summit recently took place in Manila, Philippines, with a focus on the theme 'Toward Zero Dengue Deaths: Science, Strategy, and Solidarity.' The summit brought together over 600 participants from 22 countries, including dengue experts, global health leaders, policymakers, researchers, and advocates.

Dr. Ma. Rosario Z. Capeding, the Organizing Chair for the summit, highlighted the preventable nature of dengue and the importance of scientific innovation, strategic approaches, and community partnerships in achieving Zero Dengue Deaths. The summit aimed to share experiences, expertise, and successful strategies in battling dengue.

The Asia Dengue Policy Working Group recently released a white paper titled 'Unlocking Progress: Dengue Policies and Opportunities in Asia,' calling for stronger regional coordination and national accountability to manage dengue effectively and protect vulnerable populations. Recommendations for the Philippines include enhancing dengue prevention through vaccination and improving care delivery.

Dr. Fatima I. Gimenez emphasized the need for collaborative efforts across all sectors, including health workers, advocates, the public, and the media, to combat dengue effectively and save lives.

One of the initiatives highlighted at the summit was the Dengue Slayers Challenge, which aims to empower students in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines to develop innovative solutions for dengue prevention and control. The challenge encourages digital innovation, community impact, and environmental sustainability.

Another key focus was on DengCast, a podcast platform by ADVA:NexGen that aims to raise awareness and engage communities in meaningful conversations about dengue. The platform features voices from public health experts, community leaders, and researchers across Asia, providing insights and perspectives on dengue control.

The 8th Asia Dengue Summit serves as a crucial platform for dialogue, partnership building, and action to combat the global threat of dengue effectively.
