Vice President Sara Duterte was asked to comment on the call for senator-judges to inhibit themselves and she stated that doing so would not aid the impeachment proceedings against her. During a press conference at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City’s SM Lanang, Duterte expressed that if pro-Duterte senator-judges were to inhibit, there would be no judges left, as she would call for anti-Duterte senator-judges to do the same.
Duterte emphasized that inhibiting individuals based on biased opinions would deplete the pool of judges, as senators are divided into pro and anti factions. She labeled the impeachment as politically motivated and claimed that all senators hold biases.
According to Duterte, the pro senators aim to defend her, while the anti senators are focused on dismantling the Duterte family. She urged against inhibiting anyone and suggested giving the senator-judges the benefit of the doubt to carry out their duties.
