According to the police, the man was cycling with friends in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve between Upper Seletar Reservoir and Upper Peirce Reservoir when the incident occurred around 11.40am on Sunday. His friends then took him to the hospital.

The area where the incident happened is off-limits to the public, with signs warning against unauthorized entry due to live-firing activities. The SAF was conducting a live-firing exercise at Nee Soon Range, near the forested area where the incident took place.

A Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) spokesperson mentioned that the SAF was conducting an authorized live-firing exercise at the Nee Soon 500m Range, approximately 2.3km away from the incident site. The preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred within a designated SAF live-firing forested area.

As a precautionary measure, live-firing activities at the Nee Soon 500m Range have been halted while further investigations are ongoing. Unauthorized individuals are prohibited from entering SAF live-firing gazetted areas under the Military Manoeuvres Act to ensure their safety.

The police and SAF are continuing their investigations, and no foul play is suspected at this time.
