Search Halted for Person Who Fell Overboard from Ferry in Firth of Clyde

The Western Ferries service between Gourock and Dunoon alerted the coastguard to the incident.

Authorities have suspended the search for an individual who fell overboard from a ferry on Sunday. The incident was reported by the Western Ferries service operating between Gourock and Dunoon at approximately 1.45pm.

A Coastguard helicopter, along with rescue teams from Largs, Dunoon, Kames, and Helensburgh, were dispatched to conduct a search. CalMac also deployed its MV Ali Cat vessel to aid in the search operation.

Police Scotland received reports of concern for the individual on Sunday. A spokesperson for HM Coastguard stated that they responded to reports of a person overboard in the Hunter's Quay and Gourock area of Scotland on June 15.

The spokesperson mentioned, "An HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter was tasked with conducting a search, alongside coastguard rescue teams from Largs, Kames, Helensburgh, Greenock, and Dunoon, as well as RNLI lifeboats from Helensburgh and Largs. Nearby vessels and services from Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance were also involved in the operation. The search has now been suspended."
