Middle East News: Iranian forces unleashed barrage of missiles on Israel early Monday, targeting major cities including Tel Aviv and Haifa, marking a dramatic escalatio.

Recent tensions between Israel and Iran escalated as Iranian forces launched a barrage of missiles at major Israeli cities like Tel Aviv and Haifa. The attack caused damage to residential areas and raised concerns about a potential broader conflict in the Middle East. Explosions rocked Tel Aviv as Israel's defence systems intercepted the Iranian missiles, with plumes of smoke rising over the city.

The Revolutionary Guards of Iran claimed to have used a new attack method that reportedly caused Israel's defence systems, including the Iron Dome, to target each other. They boasted about the success of the operation despite US and Western support, warning of more devastating future attacks.

Israel's Defence Minister, Israel Katz, condemned the attacks, calling the leader of Tehran a cowardly murderer for targeting Israeli civilians. He warned of repercussions for Tehran residents. The Iron Dome, Israel's primary defence mechanism, along with other air defence systems, managed to intercept many of the incoming missiles, with military officials reporting an 80-90% success rate.

The Iron Dome, developed by Rafael Advanced Defence Systems with American assistance, is a sophisticated air defence system designed to intercept short-range rockets, mortars, and drones. Operational since 2011, the system has proven highly effective, with an impressive success rate in neutralising threats. It uses radar-guided missiles launched from truck-mounted units to destroy incoming threats in mid-air, with intelligent threat assessment capabilities to prioritize intercepting rockets posing a genuine threat to populated areas.
