The Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) have seen an increase in their membership within the House of Representatives, with two more lawmakers joining the dominant political party on Monday, June 16.

Strengthening the Lakas-CMD presence in the House are Davao de Oro 2nd district Rep. Jhong Ceniza and Valenzuela City 2nd district Rep. Gerald Galang. The oath of office was administered by House Speaker Martin Romualdez, who is also the party president.

Additionally, Davao de Oro Governor Raul Mabanglo also officially became a member of Lakas-CMD, bringing the total number of incumbent provincial governors in the party to 16.

Before joining Lakas-CMD, Rep. Ceniza, Gov. Mabanglo, Rep. Oyo Uy of Davao del Norte 1st district, Rep. Jojo Lara of Cagayan de Oro 3rd district, and Mayor Mark Anthony Libuangan of Laak, Davao de Oro, took their oath of office, all administered by Speaker Romualdez.

Speaker Romualdez expressed gratitude to the new party members, emphasizing their shared goals of improving the lives of constituents and supporting President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.'s legislative agenda and vision for a better Philippines.

Deputy Speaker Quezon 2nd district Rep. David “Jayjay” Suarez noted that Romualdez now has the backing of a 'supermajority' of around 285 House members for the upcoming 20th Congress Speakership vote.
