Data from the Alberta government's dashboard shows 53 more measles cases were confirmed over the weekend, bringing Alberta's total to 932.

Alberta has now reported over 900 cases of measles since the beginning of March, with 53 new cases confirmed over the weekend, bringing the total to 932. This marks the highest case count the province has seen in over four decades.

The Alberta Medical Association president, Dr. Shelley Duggan, has expressed concerns that Canada may lose its measles-elimination status by October if the situation is not brought under control. Health Canada declared measles eliminated in 1998, no longer being endemic.

Currently, four individuals are hospitalized due to the highly contagious disease, with one person in intensive care. The province is facing a critical situation as efforts to contain the outbreak continue.
